Welcome to the first WEW DVD review here on TotalWrestling.net. If you are looking for wrestling on par with SHIMMER then you are in the wrong place. Womens Extreme (or Erotic, depending on where you look) Wrestling is somewhere in-between SHIMMER and WWE in terms of quality, and it’s not like that’s a bad thing really. These releases usually have a match or two separated by a segment involving nudity (such as the pWo tryouts on this release). This is where the 18 rating comes from. The wrestling itself is pretty good and showcases some of the best talent in the United States. This feature sees former WWE Divas Jazz and Francine, Former TNA Knockouts Rain (Payton Banks) and Lollipop (she was with TNA in the early days), current TNA Knockouts Talia Madison (Velvet Sky), Chantelle Taylor (TNA Knockouts Champion Taylor Wilde), SoCal Val and Jessica Dalton (ODB) as well as ROH/SHIMMER mainstay Lacey. In terms of talent, WEW has a stacked roster.

As for the matches, they are more extreme than anything WWE has put on, well, ever. Imagine seeing WWE actually allowing real hardcore matches. This DVD release actually has a first ever (to my knowledge) in the US, 2 women competing in a Stairway to Ecstasy Barbed Wire Bat Match. For those familiar with the original ECW, this is a take off of one of their match types, a Stairway to Hell match. We see Mercedez Martinez taking on ROH alumni Simply Luscious. From top to bottom, the wrestling is of good quality, I couldn’t say there was a bad match on the DVD. These include Jazz defending her WEW championship against Passion, The Minnesota Home Wrecking Crew (Lacey and Rain) vs Pussy Willow and Chantelle Taylor, ODB taking on Nav-A-Ho, Team T&A (Talia Madison and April Hunter) taking on Team Blondage (Amber O’Neill and Lollipop) and the main event I mentioned about, Mercedez Martinez taking on Simply Luscious in one of the most brutal womens matches I’ve seen outside of Japan.

All this adds up to a very good DVD, and if you like seeing half naked women, your doubly in luck as in the between match segments, you get to see fully naked women instead, and if that’s not your cup of tea, then you can always skip them and carry on watching the wrestling this DVD has to offer.
